Earthwise Group Expects Higher Demand for Vinyl Windows

The Earthwise Group, LLC, a national network of locally owned, independent manufacturers of windows and doors, is anticipating an increased demand for high-quality, energy-efficient vinyl windows and doors produced by its members throughout the rest of the year.

Mark Davis, executive director of The Earthwise Group, LLC, points to an uptick in residential housing starts in 2012 and during the first quarter of 2013, a trend that may gain momentum as the national economy improves. He also cited another industry forecast, which predicts that vinyl windows and doors will play a pivotal role in the housing market as it rebounds.

“We’re optimistic about what we’re seeing, because the numbers suggest that the housing market may finally be in recovery after a challenging period. Consider that housing starts nationally may top one million units this year,” Davis said. “At Earthwise, we see this as a significant opportunity for our members, because developers, contractors and homeowners alike have learned that vinyl windows and doors are the key to building an energy-efficient home, and our products are primed to meet marketplace demand.”

Davis cited a study published by the Freedonia Group1, which was released in September 2012. It showed that vinyl windows and doors are the fastest-growing segment in the market, with a forecasted increase of 12 percent each year through 2016. By that time, the sector could be valued at $9.8 billion. The study attributed the anticipated growth in the vinyl window and door sector to the ongoing recovery of the housing market as well as manufacturers’ efforts to increase the aesthetic appeal of vinyl products

In January of this year, The Earthwise Group announced a solid year of growth at the close of 2012 despite ongoing economic uncertainty. The group reported a 16-percent increase in sales last year compared to 2011 figures. Residential remodeling remained a key component of the sales success, but the organization also witnessed an uptick in new residential construction.

Drawing from the strength of its member companies, The Earthwise Group is at the forefront of meeting and exceeding industry demand for windows and doors that balance form, function and energy efficiency. Products produced by Earthwise Group members consistently meet and exceed the rigorous standards set by Energy Star, the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC), and the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA). The organization also recently became the first and only window and door manufacturer to be Made in USA Certified.

Earthwise manufacturing facilities cover the majority of the eastern half of the United States, and continue to grow.
